capture
saturday 24 june 2001 - midmorning - train from findhorn

dig deep
the beauty comes easy here
abandoned houses on rocky shore
grey sea beckoning
but over there it’s not so easy
concrete jungle
yet it exists
love, too, was easy here
right on the surface, the ready smiles
remarkable people
but over there it’s not so easy
faces cold as stone
alone in the big city
yet it exists
trying so hard to capture it on film
in words, trying so hard to hold on
I forget to hold it inside
you can’t catch the starlight inside a jar
so all we can do is wish on the star
that its radiance will light our way
forever
speak a whisper of the beauty
and it vanishes
cookie cutter houses take its place
trying to confine it, rope it down
in holding it closer they scare it away
stop trying to capture it and save it for later
because it’s all around us all the time
