eager to bleed
(for puck)
      thursday 14 june 2001 - 2:00 am - edinburgh

wouldn’t it be nice
if the answer was just sacrifice
you could fall for your cause and make it stronger
stop the battle and make the war last longer

you’re eager to bleed
shed your blood on the field
and scream into the sky
stand tall for your cause
all the better should you die
eager to bleed
maybe then you’ll feel some power
and your weak little soul will be freed
to devour
don’t you see?

your blood all spilled without a reason
amounts to nothing less than treason
you weaken your cause, spread too thin
self-righteous martyr helping the others win
your screams are lost in the storm
your blood drains away without form
another lost soul in pursuit of that golden goal
too eager to bleed

but you’re blind through the blaze of glory
everyone amazed at your story
big goals to hide your fears
big words to hide your tears
but your blood won’t hide you forever
won’t hide you from yourself

you’re eager to bleed
shed your blood on the field
and scream into the sky
stand tall for your cause
all the better should you die
eager to bleed
maybe then you’ll feel some power
and your weak little soul will be freed
to devour
don’t you see?

can’t you see?
your blood doesn’t hide you from me
